We have all seen how the plants behave if they don´t have the correct light, and that´s not the plants we are enjoying looking at! Of cource you can pinch the plants, and many times that’s also what we are doing taking cuttings and also for shaping the plants in the form we want them to grow. But still our plants need the correct light during their stay inside in greenhouses, living rooms or where else you keep the plants for preparing them to the outside life. Just like you and me the plants need the light in the correct composition, so it does matter which light you buy and use.
The naturally sunlight has the colours as we see them at a rainbow – nothing can compares with this! But we can come very close if we knows a little about what the plans can feel– It is known that the plants can recognize the difference in the lights length, the lights power and the composition. The infra-red light has a significance meaning for the plants – the infra-red radiate heat and that´ something the plants know and can deal with. The plants sucker amount increases by receiving heat and therefore it is those colours we must use, but not only the red, the green or the blue colour. A wrong composition in the fluorescent tube can give bad results. To little of the red colour will make the plant short between the leaves, a lot off site shoot will appear and the result will be small compacts plants lokking like they are cold or so. Are the light to blue the plants will be transparent green, will not produce many site shoots, so as you can see iot´s important to use the correct type of fluorescent tube with the correct amount of Lux. The sun has (if I remember correct approx. 5000 Lux) and that’s what we must go for.
Therfore I use Sera Plant Color with a Lux amount on 4900. On the packet is written that is special designed for for use in aquarium e.c. and for encouragement of the natural plant colour. It also says that it´s a mix of the red and the blue lights that are used in those fluorescent tubes.
Other branded goods fluorescent tubes is Sun-Glo, Osrams Lumilux 22, Osram # 77, fluora 1408.
